‘What’s your favourite film?’ The dreaded question.

If I had a pound for every time I’ve been asked what my “favourite film” is ever since being a Film Studies student, well, I wouldn’t need to be a student. It’s something I’ve been wondering about a lot recently and feel as though I should really have that ultimate film to answer with.

However, try as I might, I really can’t choose just one so I thought I’d share ‘My Top 5’ (in no particular order, of course) with you and my most memorable scenes. This list is definitely subject to change and I just know I will have forgotten someone or something along the way!

Here goes…

Almost Famous (2000)

My all time favourite, if there was going to be one. A fabulous story which, as a wannabe journo/writer, I can relate to.

What’s Eating Gilbert Grape (1993)

One of Leonardo DiCaprio’s most impressive performances, in my opinion.

A Little Princess (1995)

A childhood treasure!

Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion (1997)

One of those, ‘you can watch it 50 times and never be bored’, time after time.

Blue Velvet (1986)

A David Lynch spectacular!

…but then there’s Girl, Interrupted and Pretty In Pink too. I guess I’ll never be any closer to finding my ‘favourite film!’

  1. I re-watched A Little Princess myself the other day. One of my fav books, films, plays as a kid… and cried my little eyes out. Anyway, you’re distracting me from work…
