This weekend I was home from University and back in Liverpool so thought I would catch up on the Savage Style: Costumes from Lily’s Wardrobe exhibition that was just opened at The Walker Art Gallery.
For those of you who don’t know, Paul O’Grady is a Liverpool-born actor, television presenter and radio DJ who, in the nineties and noughties, hosted a series of programmes dolled up as his alter-ego, drag act, Lily Savage. The minute (but still vibrant) exhibition, on the first floor of the beautiful gallery, showcases some of the extravagant costumes from Lily’s colourful career on custom-made mannequins.
Here are few snaps I took at the exhibition:
Yesterday was, of course, November 5th (Bonfire Night) so after the exhibition we went to watch the firework display at Sefton Park in Liverpool, which i had heard was amazing. With the Harry Potter theme tune and Katy Perry‘s Firework as the soundtrack, it was pretty spectacular but what was more spectacular was the sea of people who had come to see them. I had no idea Sefton Park could fit that many people inside it!
Here are some of the pictures I took before I switched my camera to record mode and couldn’t work out how to switch it back:
Admirable.
