As a former Film Studies student and a self-confessed square eyes, I am partial to scrolling the social feeds post-film or TV award ceremony and adding my two pence. Not dedicated enough to disrupt my non-negotiable 8 hours kip, mind. In general though, award ceremonies just aren’t really my cup of char. That was until my paths crossed with the guys behind the flippin’ Food Porn Awards.
Yes, such a thing exists. What a time to be alive.

As you’ve all been busy sipping on Pumpkin Spice Lattes and wondering if it’s too early to start sprinkling cinnamon over e’rythang, Manchester-based creative agency, Shoot the Moon have been working their little socks off. They’ve been whittling photographic entries from 350 of the best restaurants, boutique pubs, cafe bars and alternative eateries from across the North of England down to just 60: half in the Fine Dining category and half under the culinary umbrella of Casual Dining.
Launched in 2016, the Food Porn Awards seeks to crown the best looking dish in the North with heavyweight contenders including The Flixton, Wood Manchester, The Alchemist and Menagerie Restaurant and Bar. The 6 top ranking entries will enter the illustrious FPA finals and have their signature dish shot by the acclaimed STM Photography before the champion is crowned in March 2018 at the Northern Restaurant and Bar Show.

So it’s over to you because it’s time to select your winners from the incredible shortlist as the Food Porn Awards 2018 voting is now open! Advice from the FPA tells you to vote for the dish that makes you want to lick the plate clean and well, I couldn’t have said it better myself.
Cast your votes for the 2018 Food Porn Awards at www.foodpornawards.co.uk/entries/ before Monday 18th December.
Good luck to all involved – may the prettiest plate prevail!
